Fever under control

Logan's fever has come down some. They were controlling it with Tylenol, but now he is mostly keeping it under control by himself.

The oncologist is very concerned about Logan, and told Laura to expect to be there a minimum of five days. If the blood cultures indicate that he has a bacterial infection, then we should expect ten days. By then, his blood counts should be up, and he can do a little better at fighting for himself. We should hear about the blood cultures sometime tomorrow.

Laura has been spending the night with him. She was up most of the night Sunday night because Logan was having an allergic reaction to the platelets they were giving him. They gave him some different platelets yesterday afternoon, and he took those well. They gave him some red blood cells last night, and thankfully he had no reaction. Laura got some much-needed rest last night, although she said her stomach is bothering her tonight, somewhat nauseous.

As in the past, we are very fortunate to have people willing to watch Adam while we're displaced. Thank you!

Logan has been very content, as usual. On Sunday, before we took him in, he seemed to be clued in that something was wrong. While Laura held the thermometer under his arm, he said, "I need to get in bed and go to the hospital." One thing that is easier during this stay is that he can eat much better than during a chemo treatment. He was in a very good mood tonight, smiling a lot, and laughing. Laura said he has been cheerful all day!

Will send out an update when we hear about the blood cultures.
