24 hour virus, but counts high

Hello to our family and friends,

Here are the dates of Logan's upcoming treatments/tests:

Both Adam and Logan caught a 24 hour virus (fever and vomiting) earlier this week. Logan's neuro-oncologist was not too concerned as Logan's platelets are up to 190+ (they transfused him Saturday when platelets were 47) and his ANC is over 4000 (where neutropenia is 1000 or lower. Remember how low his ANC was last week at 0, 2, 400 and 800?). It is the G-CSF kicking in (from last week's shots) now that makes his ANC so high. I am so thankful that this virus hit Logan now and not last week when his counts were rock bottom. It can be devastating to catch anything with low counts.

I am also encouraged to see Logan being more interactive and cheerful these past few days. He looks us straight in the eyes more when he talks to us. He even requests for 'Daddy to fly Logan'. I can't know how badly he must have felt before (and will feel again) with all of the chemotherapy agents, surgeries, and radiation altering his mind and body. This is the short term and sometimes it is hard to think beyond it. Even though I am shortsighted sometimes, I am encouraged by God's promises and bigger picture. On Sunday, during communion, the speaker read from various passages in Romans, but Romans 5:3-5 in particular caused me to think of how God might be working in Logan's life:

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

We don't know what God has in store for Logan (or any one of us for that matter) in this life; but, we know He must be developing perseverance, character, and hope in Logan. But mostly, we just want Logan to know his Father and to know how much He loves him.

Prayer Requests:

Please continue to pray that the chemotherapy from October 16th-17th has successfully zapped all tumor cells, especially to the optic chiasm region (as radiation or surgery to this area would cause blindness in both eyes) and the spine. Pray for accurate and good results from MRI and MUGA on 10th. Also, continue to pray specifically for protection for Logan's vision, heart function and hearing as well as TBH and TBP (total body healing and protection). Also, peace for treatment decisions; wisdom and good communication for the Doctors.

Thanks for faithfully praying with us for Logan,

Laura
