Extra vertebra

Dear family and friends,

We delayed radiation one week to evaluate the possibility of using antineoplastons (FDA sponsored phase II clinical trial using non-toxic medicine) as a treatment. I am for this "other" treatment, but Knocker still feels radiation is the best option available. So, we are going with radiation. Tomorrow (Monday, November 29th) is the 'big' day. Marjorie Hardison (from our church) is going with me to the first treatment for support. Logan's radiation oncologist has decided that 2 treatments per day may be more beneficial, so we have an 11am and a 6pm appointment each day. I will be taking Logan to the early appointment while Knocker hopes to re-arrange his work schedule so that he can take Logan to the later appointment.

Prayer Requests: Pray for good periods of rest and good nutrition for Logan (most kids on this type of radiation schedule lose weight due to the rushing around). Pray for protection for Logan's good brain/spine cells (especially his thinking part of his brain which will be targeted by the radiation boost since it is behind the tumor on his optic chiasm). Also, pray that all cancer cells/tumors will die. Pray for wisdom for doctors in setting up the boost portion of the radiation to spare his brain; yet, hit tumors. Pray for peace for me (I have had a hard time accepting this decision)--Knocker already is experiencing God's peace with this decision.

God made Logan special. We just found out last Monday when they were positioning Logan on the radiation table that he has an extra vertebra. And God can choose to protect him despite predicted outcomes.

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:1-2

Your continued prayers are needed and appreciated!
