Logan is with Jesus

Many of you have already heard the news. At 4:13pm today, Logan went to be with Jesus. We're going to miss our little boy.

The MRI last Thursday showed lots of new tumor growth in the brain and spine. On Saturday afternoon, Logan's condition worsened very quickly. He was unable to speak at all, and repeatedly cried out in pain. Laura gave him some extra steroids, and after a few hours he seemed to snap out of it, but it started all over again when we got in bed Saturday night. Nobody got much sleep on Saturday night, Logan least of all, because he was in a lot of pain. He couldn't speak at all, just cry out. On Sunday about mid-morning, the morphine seemed like it was finally taking effect. What a relief to see him resting quietly after hours of pain and restlessness! We sang to him a lot and told him everything we know about Jesus and heaven. After he was able to get some rest, we had some of the most precious time with him. He didn't wake up, but we believe he could hear us, and he would squeeze the finger of whoever was holding him.

As the day progressed, his breaths became more and more shallow. Just a few minutes before he died, I took a turn holding him. When we saw that his breaths were getting even smaller, we called Laura over and she was able to hug him and say "I love you." He took just a few more breaths. When I checked his heart, it had already stopped.

It was April 16th of last year when we first discovered that Logan had a brain tumor. I can't begin to thank all of you for your faithful, loving support this past year. Thank you for praying! Thank you!

We will inform of funeral arrangements soon.

I lift up my eyes to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Without Jesus, we have no hope. Thank you, Lord, for your precious, perfect Word!
